Family Information Evening on February 24, 2026

The Family Information Evening (see video below) was created for families of children with disabilities of an immigrant background, with a special focus on making information easier to access for non-Icelandic speakers.

The event was held at Þroskahjálp headquarters in Reykjavík, 24th of February 2026.

In the video you will see:

  • A short introduction to Þroskahjálp and our work.
  • Practical information about rights, support, and available services for children with disabilities in Iceland, focusing on how parents and caregivers of an immigrant background can navigate the Icelandic system.
  • Presentations from partner organisations:
Sjónarhóll, Downs-félagið, TMF tölvumiðstöð, Umhyggja, Gló stuðningsfélag, NPA miðstöðin

Thank you to Cultural Mediators from MMS (Miðstöð menntunar og skólaþjónustu), for support in communication and Q&A.
